Octane Launches from Stealth Raising $6.75M to Build AI-Powered Cybersecurity for Blockchain

Despite investing 6-7 figures annually in security, blockchain projects have suffered over $11 billion in hacks. Blockchain engineering organizations spend way too much time and money on securing their codebases. We want to build a future where security in ubiquitous and seamlessly integrated into developer workflows. A future where every team in crypto has their own AI security engineer specialized in complex exploits and providing reviews of every pull request given the full context of business operations.

To build this, I’m excited to announce that Octane has secured $6.75m in funding led by Archetype and Winklevoss Capital with participation from world-class and strategic investors including Druid Ventures, Circle, Gemini, Legion Capital, Duke Capital Partners, Balaji Srinivasan, Sina Habibian, and many others.

"We're thrilled to back Gio and the team at Octane as they develop a powerful new method of mitigating hacks, crypto's most critical vulnerability," said Ash Egan, General Partner at Archetype. "By leveraging LLMs to identify attack surfaces before deployment, we believe Octane expands the crypto security purview beyond traditional audits and does so with a developer-first mentality. The Archetype team is ecstatic to lead Octane's $6.75M Seed round and help evolve crypto security alongside the technology and asset class."

"Securing smart contracts on the blockchain is one of the biggest challenges facing any crypto developer," said Tyler Winklevoss. "The importance of making crypto applications more secure is obvious and Gio and his world-class team have built just the platform to meet this need and help crypto devs and crypto companies ship more secure code," added Cameron Winklevoss. "We're excited to back them on this journey."

Octane launches from stealth

To date, we’ve been quietly building Octane and working with tier-1 crypto teams including Circle, Redstone, Trust Wallet, and many more. We’ve already been able to find vulnerabilities missed in manual audits + internal team reviews and even win capital in audit contests. Today, we’re coming out of stealth and we’re excited to bring this technology to the masses.

The team behind Octane brings wealth of experience having previously worked at leading audit firms, AI giants like Google/Waymo, and leading universities like Duke, USC, and UPenn.

What will Octane do with the capital?

Octane will use the funds to increase product development velocity, expand the team, mass label vulnerability data, and get their platform into the hands of every developer building in crypto.

We are always looking for talented and hungry folks, if what we’re building excites you, please reach out to jobs at octane.security

What is the problem we’re solving?

Smart contract attacks have drained $11 billion from the ecosystem. Security isn't just a feature—it's the foundation that will determine whether blockchain technology thrives or collapses.

If we want to get the next 1B users in crypto, we need to make smart contracts and blockchain code more secure. We need to prevent deployment of vulnerable code. We need to catch more vulnerabilities. And we need to have the right guardrails to avoid multi-million dollar hacks.

What does Octane do to solve that?

We've built an AI security engineer that never sleeps and helps developers fix issues instantly — way before they become exploits. It's like having a world-class security team embedded in your GitHub. To power this, our models are trained on millions of instances of code/exploits and custom tuned to any codebase.

Conclusion

The future of blockchain security isn't just more and more audits — it's intelligent, always-on protection that evolves with every line of code. With $6.75M in funding and partnerships with industry leaders, Octane is transforming security from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage. We're not just building tools; we're creating the foundation that will allow blockchain technology to fulfill its potential and reach the next billion users.
